Survivor Philippines: A battle of the 'sosyal' and the 'promdis'?

Monday, September 8, 2008

Though they come from different walks of life, all 18 castaways are on equal footing in the competition.

But only in their first week on Koh Tarutao, an island in Thailand, they are already experiencing heightening tension as two groups formed against another.

In the Naak Tribe, the sosyal city girls, Nikki, Kaye, Charisse and Veronica form a little clique.

On the other hand, the simple promdis Chev, Zita, Vevherly and Patani who find themselves on common ground because of the hardships they have experienced in life also start to get closer.

So their island life begins with Chev griping against Kaye and Nikki who choose to lounge around the island than to help around the camp.

Only Zita and Patani, both used to doing chores, diligently scavenge for food and look for materials to build their shelter.

Because of this, they question if this is a tribe of equals or if they are being treated like housekeepers.

Meanwhile, the situation in the Jarakay Tribe is no different.

Instead of working with the other castaways, the younger and more sosyal boys Jace, JC, Rob and Kiko band together and move away from the working class types Marlon, Emerson and Cris.

The two tribes are supposed to compete with each other but it seems that the competition within each tribe is also growing stronger.

Will the sosyals gain an upper hand over the simpler-living castaways? Or will the promdis and working class castaways prove that they are better equipped to last in the island for 39 days?
